BERNE, Ind. -- Nostalgia magazine Looking Back, published by DRG, has a new editor.

Mary Beth Weisenburger joined the editorial team in the spring of 2011, bringing her years of writing and storytelling experience to the already-established line of nostalgia products produced by DRG. The August 2011 issue marks her first issue as editor.

As a communications specialist with more than 25 years of experience and more than 10 years in the editorial and magazine publishing business, Weisenburger will combine her writing and publishing expertise with her background in nostalgic storytelling.

"I come from a long line of storytellers who helped shape my career as a writer, editor, publisher and teller of stories," she said. "My family instilled in me at a very young age a love of history, an appreciation for family, and a never-ending passion for heartwarming, first-person stories."

The goal of the magazine's creators -- and Weisenburger's goal -- is to produce a magazine filled with interesting content created by storytellers from across the country. The result is a collection of first-hand accounts that celebrate life in America during an earlier era -- an era often referred to as "the good old days."

The August issue is available from the magazine website at LookingBackMagazine.com.

Looking Back highlights true stories contributed by readers. It focuses on average Americans and every-day experiences from the past, with old-time advertising, witty cartoons and authentic photographs of memorable people, places and events from the 1940s, 50s and 60s. It also incorporates favorite family recipes, nostalgic travel pieces and old-fashioned home remedies.

Weisenburger said, "I am very excited about joining the DRG family and am looking forward to working with the faithful readers and writers of Looking Back."

Before joining the DRG publishing staff, she served as senior vice president and director of marketing and investor relations for the banking industry and was director of marketing and public relations for Defiance Regional Medical Center in Defiance, Ohio.

In addition, she was editor and publisher of Happenings Magazine, a bimonthly women's lifestyle magazine, with offices in northwest Ohio. She began her career as an assistant to the press secretary in the office of a United States senator, working in Washington, D.C.

Weisenburger still serves as a self-syndicated columnist, writing an award-winning monthly family humor column titled "In the Same Boat," which is carried in four publications and newspapers. Recently, she published a book of columns, "In the Same Boat -- 55 Laugh Breaks for Frazzled Moms."

She holds an undergraduate degree in communications and a master's degree in business and organizational leadership. She is a member of the National Society of Newspaper Columnists and the Independent Book Publishers Association.
