BERNE, Ind.--In April 2008, Crochet World magazine will mark its 30th anniversary. To celebrate, DRG, the magazine's publisher, held a sweepstakes and awarded a grand-prize package worth more than $750 in needlecraft merchandise. Ten additional runners-up received a year-long subscription to Crochet World and a DRG hardcover crochet book.

Diane Davis of Mt. Airy, N.C., was named the grand-prize winner. She said, "Winning the grand prize was the biggest event that ever happen to me. I want to thank Crochet World for the thread, yarn, hooks, lamps and books.  I love to crochet for family and friends, and Crochet World has been a big help over all these years."

Susan Tullis, editor of Crochet World, said, "We wanted to do something special for our loyal supporters during our 30-year celebration, and we were very pleased that every state in the union was represented in the sweepstakes entries, as well as entrants from numerous foreign countries."

Crochet World launched in 1978 as one of the first magazines geared specifically toward crochet. It features crochet toys, dolls, doilies, clothing items, afghans, baby items and other apparel, and uses yarns and threads that are readily available in retail outlets and needlecraft shops.

Because of the magazine's continued popularity, DRG has also added 16 additional pages. The April issue includes a baby blanket, a 60 x 84-inch tablecloth, a wrap sweater, a patchwork pillow, a handbag, and 16 additional crocheted projects. Every pattern comes with a set of step-by-step instructions for projects that range from the beginner through advanced skill levels.

Regular features include Crochet Questions, Crochet Chat, Crochet Potpourri and a buyer's guide with contact information for some of the best-known retailers of yarns and needlecraft supplies. Every issue also has a stitch guide to assist beginner crocheters.

Crochet World is published six times a year under the House of White Birches brand name. Other DRG brands include Annie's Attic, Clotilde and The Needlecraft Shop. Individual copies of the magazine retail for $3.99 and are available on newsstands and in specialty shops. Crocheters can also purchase the magazine online at Crochet-World.com.
