Christmas memories in December Good Old Days magazine

BERNE, Ind.—Good Old Days magazine, published by DRG’s well-known House of White Birches publishing brand, brings back memories from a time now called “the good old days,” with reader-written accounts from across the country. The December 2009 issue focuses on Christmases from the past, with 78 pages of first-hand stories of winter scenes and holiday traditions written from the perspectives of the people who lived them.
Story titles in the December issue include Christmas in the 1950s, A Brother for Christmas, Sledding on Icy Streets, Grandmother’s Cookies, Christmas 1936 and Aprons Full of Memories. In all, there are more than 25 stories, with old photos and old-time music from a bygone era.
Whether it’s a fond memory of a favorite pet, a first automobile, the aroma of Mom’s cooking, or a look back at a favorite old-time movie, the nostalgic stories in Good Old Days reflect a time when life was simpler and the pace was slower.
According to Editor Ken Tate, “Good Old Days highlights a historic time in our nation’s history that is gone but not forgotten. It celebrates a dramatic era—one that began in 1929 with the Great Depression and lasted through the 1960s.”
Good Old Days was first published in the New England area by a publishing company called House of White Birches. In the 1980s, the Muselman family purchased HWB and moved the business to the Midwest town of Berne, Ind., where it became part of the DRG family of brands.
Good Old Days is available in supermarkets, drugstores and on newsstands. It is also available by subscription from the magazine Web site at GoodOldDaysMagazine.com.
DRG is in its third generation as a privately owned company operating two major business divisions; one in publishing and consumer catalogs and the other in subscription and product fulfillment.
